Can’t Get Enough of Your Love Babe

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Aiden is starting to recognize things that make him smile and laugh. I forgot he had the ability to react to stimuli other than crying. He smiles when he farts. Oh and he seemed to like my Barry White impression I did for him today.

Two Months

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Dear Aiden,

I’m sorry I didn’t write this on the 23rd because I was busy being your mommy but I did tell you, “Happy Two months old!” in person. I’m so happy that you’ve lived on this earth for two months! I can’t wait for many more months to come.

In such a short amount of time you’ve grown so much already. Physically, you’re plump. You have a double chin. Your wrists are barely visible between your hands and forearms. Your thighs have rolls! I have to dig deep to make sure I’ve cleaned you up when I change your diaper. Your limbs are so chubby that you’ve now given Auntie Jane a reason to call you names.

You also developed a preference for certain things. After I nurse, you need to be held over the right shoulder to fall asleep. No matter who holds you, your head has to be resting on the right shoulder and your arms and legs in the weirdest positions that do not look comfortable, but yet is perfect for you.

I also let you sleep on your side sometimes. I think I’m breaking a parenting rule by doing that but you sleep so well that way. You eventually shift onto your back so i’m not that worried of something bad happening. Plus I keep you near and check on you every five minutes to make sure you’re still breathing.

You are honestly cute in every way imaginable. The sounds you make while you sleep, your constant fist pumping, and your tiny toes. Everyone you’ve met has said it. Even random people on Facebook say you’re cute. It’s decided. You’re cute. YOU’RE SO CUTE IT HURTS.

I love you, peanut.

Love,
mama

Looking dapper

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

I’m in the process of sewing Aiden some formal wear to debut at my sister Joan’s wedding in the fall. First thing, a bow tie. Just because it looks so much cuter than a regular tie. I’m planning to sew a few buttons and ruffles onto a plain white onesie also. I like the idea of designing him a one-of-a-kind ensemble more than buying one. Although, if I find a nice suit for cheap between now and the wedding, I might nix this whole project altogether.

Gratuitous Aiden Pictures

Monday, April 19th, 2010

(P.S. No babies were intoxicated at the time these pictures were taken. Hi grandma Gayle!)

No minivans or scrapbooks

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

I don’t want to drive a minivan. I decided that a couple days ago. Unless I raise more than two kids in the future, I see no reason to use one. I am quite happy with my cute Honda Civic. It’s got four doors and child safety locks, isn’t that enough? I think so.

Scrapbooking. I’d like to meet the sticker and scissor-happy person who came up with the brilliant idea of combining photos and collages and therefor gave stay-at-home mothers something to do while watching daytime television. As much as I like arts & crafts as the next person, I am not that crazy about borders and sentimental quotes and decorative hole punches and the Cricut. CRICUT! Have you seen that contraption? I am sooo fine with posting my photos online so anyone can look at them and I don’t have to carry a heavy photo album around incase someone wants to look at my pictures.

Anyways. Aiden is getting bigger and cuter everyday. He can’t talk but he sure has a personality. And gas. That boy can fart. Whenever he gets upset, instead of crying, he’ll shriek really loudly. If you’re trying to take care of one his needs and you’re not doing it to his satisfaction, he’ll scream at you. It’s like a non-verbal, “WHAT THE HELL!” It’s really cute. I love that kid.

I’m a cat lady!

Monday, April 12th, 2010

I just outed myself about being a cat person if you don’t know already. I love cats and various cat objects. As a kid I collected any cat figurines and toys I could get my hands on. Plus I’m crazy about Hello Kitty. So you know I went CRAZY over these Miu Miu Satin Cat Mary Janes from the Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection (see the whole collection for more cat and sparrow craziness).

Aaaaand Miu Miu made these with sparrows on them.

I think I equally love them both. If only by some crazy parallel universe miracle these shoes would go on sale about $500 cheaper I’d buy them. I’ll wait until they become labeled vintage and I can afford them.

How to make a good first impression

Monday, April 12th, 2010

When Adam met Aiden and my mom last month one of the first things Adam said to Aiden was, “You’re my strongest sperm!”

Needless to say my mom loves her future son-in-law and I don’t think there was any better way to make a good first impression than with using that line with your baby.

Did you know…

that most slot machines are built to play C-major apeggios? Yeah. Think about that next time you walk into Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun or wherever you can find a slot machine.

Please tell me i’m not the only nerd who hears sounds from various machinery and tries to figure out what key it’s sound is… so my washing machine plays a delightful A major scale everytime a load is finished. And I think I once heard a weed wacker hum in G natural.

Am I the only one who plays this guessing game? Ok.
